Eiffel Tower
Johnson Martin
Source · CC BY 4.0
Meshopt buffer compression and quantization. Original 453397 triangles retained, one batched draw; dielectric paint, height grading and aerial haze authored in code. The Eiffel ink motif in the Paris stamp is this same mesh rasterised from the match-cut camera (scripts/build-visa-ink.mjs), so the printed tower becomes the real one at the cut. The Paris around it (the Seine, the Trocadéro gardens, the Palais de Chaillot silhouette, the rooftops, the lawns and the stone piers) is procedural, authored in code; no external asset.

2K diffuse, OpenGL normal and roughness maps resized to 1K WebP. Diffuse neutralised and contrast-adjusted, roughness remapped to a honed finish; tinted in code as the stone tabletop.

From the 8K HDR by scripts/build-visa-sky.mjs: the 124°×62° window around the low sun the Paris camera can see, as 2816×1408 and 2048×1024 WebP plates (stored c/(c+1.5) per channel and decoded in the shader), and a 1K RGBE equirect for image-based lighting with the sun clipped and turned onto the camera axis. Original photograph by Sergej Majboroda, sky edit by Jarod Guest. The sun disc, its glow and the rays are analytic lens effects placed where the photographed sun is (2.24° elevation).
